Edmund O. 'Ed' Anderson, Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather died peacefully from complications of Parkinson's Disease at the age of 92 on June 6 at Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis. Ed was a long time resident of Duluth and recent resident of Edina, Minn. He was born Dec. 30, 1914, Omaha Neb., to Nels and Elsie (Verelius) Anderson, the oldest of seven siblings. Ed was a 1931 graduate of Duluth Denfeld High School. After 3 years at Duluth Junior College, Ed went to work for Marshall Wells. He moved to Minneapolis in 1941 to work for Ward's. In 1944, Ed enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as an intelligence specialist and paratrooper. He was honorably discharged in January, 1946, returned to Ward's and later to the University of Minnesota where he received a degree in business administration in 1951. He returned to Duluth and worked for Carpenter Paper and at Harcourt Publications until his retirement in June, 1980.Ed was a member of American Legion Post 71 and he was also a Mason and Shriner and was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Ed was also a member of Fredenberg Community Chapel. Ed loved his family, the Island Lake cabin, museums, historical markers, traveling to Arizona and other places to visit family and friends. His work ethic, following through to the finish and doing it right were traits admired by his family and friends. We will love you and miss you forever. Preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Margaret (Hellgren); his parents; brother Chuck of Duluth; and sister Millie of Oakland, Calif. Survived by daughters Karen Anderson, Duluth, Gwenn (David) Davies, Madison, Wis.; sons, Craig (Dawn), Coon Rapids, Minn., Bruce (Rosie), Eden Prairie, Minn., Errol of Tucson, Ariz., Keith (Karla), Stillwater, Minn., Scott (Shelly), Duluth; and 17 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren; Sisters Louise Kleiner, Duluth, Helen Wells, Duluth, Eleanor Breen, Boston; brother Ray, Seattle, Wash.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Sunday in Dougherty Funeral Home. Visitation continuing 11 a.m. until the 12 Noon Funeral Service Monday, June 11 in Bethany Lutheran Church, 2300 West 3rd St., Duluth. Interment in Oneota Cemetery. A Memorial Service will also be held Saturday, June 16 at 3 p.m. in Fredenberg Community Chapel, 5069 Fish Lake Road, Duluth, 55803.
