Obituary:
Ross Isenberg, 91, formerly of Mulberry Street, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday morning at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. He was born in Lakemont, the son of John S. and Nannie E. (Watters) Isenberg. He married Betty Hart in 1941, in Cumberland, Md. She preceded him in death Sept. 4, 2006. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Earl Isenberg; a sister, Christina Graham; and three brothers: Joseph, James and Bertram. Ross is survived by four children: Sally Walter (Dave) of Mechanicsburg, John (Judy) of Hollidaysburg, Susan Houseman (Don) of Lakemont and Joseph (Pam) of Altoona; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was a member of Lakemont United Methodist Church. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1937. He was a caddie and a past president and a member for 60 years of Park Hills County Club. Ross was the last of the charter members of the Lakemont Lions Club and was a member of the Heidelberg Country Club. Ross was the owner of the Independent Wallpaper and Paint Store, formerly located at Sixth Avenue and 19th Street. He enjoyed golf, roller skating, ice skating and bowling and was interested in the history of Lakemont and Lakemont Park. He helped organize and was the first president of the Lakemont Grade School Alumni Association. He was a member and first secretary of the Park Hills Former Caddies Association. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg (www.sorgefuneralhome.com). Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with Pastor Sharon Erb. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Memorials may be given to The Lutheran Home, 916 Hickory St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
