Mrs. Annie "Ann" Mae Allen Adams, 80, of King passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King. She was born in Surry County on May 5, 1927, to the late William Thomas "Tom" and Florence Dora Wall Allen. She graduated from Shoals High School in 1945. She worked for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., for a short time and then worked and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 35½ years. Mrs. Adams was very involved in church. She attended church at New Testament Baptist Church in King. She joined church in her teens and served in many offices. Mrs. Adams also enjoyed serving as a Sunday school teacher in the children' s classes until her health declined. Mrs. Adams was married to her late husband, Daniel "Dan" Monroe Adams, for 40 years. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Ida Allen and Clyde and Thelma Allen; and two nieces, Anita Snyder and Beth Allen. Mrs. Adams is survived by four sisters, Opal Wolfe of King, Betty A. Jessup and husband Jack of Pinnacle, Evelyn A. Snyder of Winston-Salem and Marie A. Joyce of Pinnacle; two brothers, Oliver and wife Ruth Allen of Pinnacle and Thomas R. and wife Blanche Allen of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Cox-Needham Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Barton, the Rev. Wayne Allen and the Rev. Brian Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, June 1, at the funeral home. In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stokes County, P.O. Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016; Joy Ranch Home for Children, P.O. Box 727, Hillsville, VA 24343-0727; or Pancreatic Cancer Fund Baptist Hospital of Forsyth County. A special thanks to her nurses, the Priddy Manor Staff, doctors and nurses at Winston-Salem Health Care, Hospice, her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends, Bill, Neal, and John Morgan, who have supported her during the good times and bad times while she was sick. The Adams family is being assisted by Cox-Needham Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain.
