Nancy was born either in Lawrence County or Orange County, Indiana to Hezekiah Jones and Cynthia Pinkley. Nancy was only 5 when her mother died and she was raised at times by various Pinkley relatives. She became the second wife of William "Bill" Hembree in 1857 in Stone County, Missouri. To this union, 10 children were born, 5 of whom are known to have lived to adulthood. Margaret Jane "Peggy Jane" Hembree (1859-c1880) who married William Huddleston; Cynthia Ann Hembree (1862-1870s); Mary Elizabeth Hembree (1866-1958) who married first to Nathaniel J. Masingale and married second to William Sonsberry Little; William Allen "Allen" Hembree (1868-1951) who married Lille Mae Logan; Nancy A. Hembree (c 1872-1876); Laura Belle Hembree (1872-1958) who married Simon Hedge Best; John Jefferson Hembree (1875-1870s); Ada Frances Hembree (1875-1870s); Hezekiah Hembree (c1876-1870s); and Rose Ella Hembree (1880-1976) who married William Dawson Moore. Nancy died in Stone County of pneumonia.
