CHANUTE TIMES JULY 9, 1897
Mary Parthena Alford was born January 1, 1890 and died June 29, 1897 aged 7 years, 5 months and 29 days. Little Thena was sick 19 days and bore her suffering with the greatest of patience. The funeral was preached Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the first verse of the 23rd Psalm, it being her favorite in the Bible. She will be greatly missed at home, in Sunday school and everywhere but may "The Lord is my shephard, I shall not want" be as dear to us as it was to her and lift us from this world of tears and sorrow into that place where he will lead us in to green pastures beside the still waters.
