∼This grave was mentioned in the "Settlers of Northeast Alabama" as R.S. Bishop born 18 July 1828 died 22 Sep 1902. This death date is the same death date listed in Family Bible records belonging to Etta Stephenson a descendant of Robert S. Bishop. At Gen Web on a listing of burials at Kyuke Cemetery in Etowah County, our ancestor is listed as Robert Bishop child of Jesse Bishop.
R. S. Bishop was also a member of Co. D. and A Alabama Infantry. Confederate - Private - Reference Card originally filed under R. J. Bishop.
R. J. Bishop - Co. D. & A. Alabama Infantry - Confederate Private. Robert S. Bishop enlisted at Kings Hill in March 1861. He was wounded at Murpheesboro, TN and was disabled. His address in 1899 when he drew his pension was Bryce, Etowah County, Alabama. I have yet to find him in the 1900 census in Etowah County, Alabama even though he did not die until 1902. If anyone has found him in 1900 census in Etowah County, Alabama or any of the surrounding counties, I would be interested in hearing from you.
Robert S. Bishop's step-grandson Hamlin Nailor is also buried in this cemetery. Robert S. Bishop's son David V. Bishop married Alphia (Gilbreath or Noojin) and believe she had been married to Lewis M. Nailor before marrying David V. Bishop.
