Funeral services for Durward E. Self Sr., who died at Brook Army Medical Center on Wednesday, were held today, Friday, August 23 at 2 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home. The Rev. J. W. Can tell of Grace United Methodist church in San Antonio officiated, with interment in the Nixon cemetery.
Mr. Self was born on April 12, 1915 in Gonzales county, to Floyd and Georgia Caraway Self. He was married on Dec. 26, 1936 to Inez Passmore and they lived in Nixon before moving to San Antonio. He worked for the U.S. Army in supplies and was a member of the Grace United Methodist church.
