Mr. Yarian's Death.
Further details of the tragic death of Eli Yarian, which took place on the John Stauffer farm two miles east of Locke, have been received by The News. He and a man named Sawyer were engaged in felling a dead tree. It started to fall in the wrong direction, "breaking across the stump." Mr. Yarian warned Sawyer in a loud voice to watch out and took refuge himself behind a large red oak tree. This tree proved to be a death trap. Evidently, the standing red oak caught some of the big limbs of the falling tree and breaking off a dead one, the latter fell, striking him squarely on top of the head and crashing the whole of one side of his skull. Death resulted instantly, the man never speaking a word. The funeral will take place at the residence at 10 a.m. Thursday.
