US Congressman. He represented New Jersey as an at-large delegate in the United States House of Representatives on two separate occasions, serving first from 1837 to 1839, then from 1841 to 1843. He was the son of New Jersey Congressman George Clifford Maxwell, and uncle of Presidential Cabinet Secretary George Maxwell Robeson.
