My brother Paul was my parents second child, and was born when my sister Roselle was almost six years old. He was 9lbs 8ozs when he arrived, and my mom entered him in the New York Daily News "beautiful baby" contest, which he won! The prize was a set of photographs taken by a professional photographer, and I still have the pictures. He was born with reddish hair, apparently from my Grandfather Benny, and had bluish gray eyes. A really cute, happy baby, from what I can tell.
In 1952, before the advent of the polio vaccine our sister contracted polio from one of our cousins, and sickening rapidly, she passed away in three days, at the age of ten on September 10.
