John Watts Garrett. 74, of St. Albans,
a retired coal miner died yesterday in
Open Door Emergency Home, located at 147
Court St., Charleston, after a three
year battle with Parkinson's Disease,
due to arteriosclerosis, or hardening
of the arteries. John also suffered
from Osteoporsis, but it was not a
factor in his death.
Preceded in death by his father, Charles Thomas Garrett, mother, Alexandra Walker West Garrett, wife, Lenor May Cadwallender Garrett and two daughters, Bessie Lee, and Dolly Garrett Hull, a son, Ray Bolter Garrett and a brother, William Minor Garrett.
He was a member of Church of
God at St. Albans.
Surviving are sons.

of snow Hill; and Howard Garrett four daughters,
Mrs.(Edna) Raymond Johnson of Parkersburg,
Mrs Lorena Lowe of Boomer,
Mrs. Lola Grace May of Charleston,
Mrs.
Mary Robertson
of St. Albans. two sisters,
Mrs. (Anna) George Smith of Charleston
and Mrs. (Mamie)John Holder of Montgomery; and two brothers,
Oscar Lee Garrett and Samuel L. Garrett, both of Montgomery.
Funeral was at the Southwest
Church of God, at Spring hIll,
Rev. J. Ross Taylor, Burial
in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The Body is at Barlett Mortuary.

John was hurt in s mine slate fall, which
left him with a bad leg and limp. He
couldn't work after that. It left the
family in financial need for years. Lenor
would make quilt tops, send them to her
daughter Dolly in Parkersburg, Dolly and
her rwo daughters, Hannah and JoAnn would
finish them for Lenor and get them back to
her to sell. John was a hard and strick
man for years,when he got older, he
mallowed out and became a christian. His
daughter Mary took him and Lenor on when
they got old and after lenor died, John got
bad with Parkinsons and Mary was forced to
put him in the Open Door Emergenct Home,
where he died.

John Watts and Lenor Mae Cadd (Cadwallender)
married June 17,1896 at Cincinnati, Ohio.

GARRETT, John Watts—Service will be at
2:30 p. m. tomorrow in Southwest Church
of God at Spring Hill. Rev. J. Ross Taylor
will oficiate and burial will be in
Spring Hill Cemetery. Mr. Garrett, 74, retired
minor of St. Albans, died Monday in a
Charleston Hospital.
