Written by Mary Crawford for the 1980 Moniteau Co History Book: Reg & I have raised our family on a farm 3.5 miles south of California, just 1/4 mile west of the Moreau Bridge on Hwy F. Reg's parents, Edwin H and Ada Belle Crawford, raised 3 sons south of California also. We lived in our first home from 1925-1950.

At that time, we built our present home directly across from the original one. Our son Bob and his family occupied the old house until it burned in 1954. Reg worked for the Missouri Pacific RR from 1937 until his retirement in 1960.

Our children are Allen, Betty, Bob, Annabelle, and Lanny. Three sons died in infancy. Allen began a career in education as a teacher in Pluck School in Moniteau Co and has been serving as principal of elementary schools in the Riverview Gardens District in St Louis for over 30 years. He married Gloria Francis and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. They will soon retire to their farm and new home south of our place.

Betty worked in KC for Civil Service as a key punch operator and taught for a short time in the Green Grove School near Latham. She married Albert Smith Jr from High Point. They have 2 children.

Bob married Pauline Kubli of California and they have remained in this area. He has served many farmers and other residents in this area with a tank wagon business associated with Standard and Mobil Oil companies. They have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. He is a member of the Gun Club and enjoys hunting and fishing. Bob and Allen both served in the US Navy.

Written by Betty Crawford Smith on the back of Reggie's baby picture: "He was very ill until his 1st birthday when Dr. Gray operated on him in his side (back) to drain much fluid. Granny used to tell us how he would have died if it hadn't been for Dr. J.P.H. Gray

Reggie died in a tractor accident. He was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church.
