FALLSTON — Mrs. Ruth Lewis Beam, 73, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, Mrs. Beam spent her years working at Hudson Hosiery, part time at Wright's Jewelry and 35 years working as a part-time secretary at Friendship United Methodist Church, where she was a jack-of-all-trades. She was known for her famous tea. She was a lifetime member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where she was a nursery school teacher, sang in the choir and was former president of United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Alonzo Beam; parents, Lee Franklin Lewis and Florence Gantt Lewis; and two brothers, Everett Lewis Sr. and Boyd Lewis.
Surviving are a son, Randy Beam and wife, Robin; daughter, Sandy Shaffer and husband, Mike; brothers, Woodrow Lewis and wife, Thelma, Thomas Lewis and wife Shirlene and Loyd Lewis and wife, Sara; all of Fallston; sisters, Lorene Houser of Vale and Shirley Allison and husband, Gilmer, of Belwood; sister-in-law, Louise Lewis; and grandchildren, Brandi Beam, Derek and Brandon Shaffer.
Visitation: The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Funeral: Friday at 3 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church; body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.
Burial: Rose Hill Memorial Park
