Benjamin Leroy "Bud" Acord, son of the late Arthur Acord and Pearl May Howell Acord, was born on Feb. 28, 1913, at Shawneetown, Ill., and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at the age of 93.
Mr. Acord was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter, a 34-year employee of Elder Manufacturing Company where he worked as a time study engineer and a resident of Dexter.

He was first united in marriage to Ruth Beatrice Cates on May 20, 1933, at Bloomfield. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1985. he then married Gertrude Hatchel on March 19, 1988, at Dexter. Mrs. Acord survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, William Acord of Malden; one step-son, Don Hatchel of Nashville, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Sue Moore of Springfield; one brother, Donald Acord of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Mary Roberts of LaGrange, Ga., and Grace Harris of New Madrid; two grandchildren, Tina Acord and Debbie Cline, both of Malden; and four step-grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Austin Moore, Sally Moore and Jeff Hatchel.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mike Kohlbaker officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
