Mr. Hennen was a member of Pine Grove Church. He was retired from law enforcement after 25 years of service. He served with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department and the Northeast Louisiana University Police. He was the first chief of police for the town of Sterlington. He was a member of the Louisiana Peace Officers Association and a WWII veteran.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark DeWayne Hennen.

He was survived by his wife, Louise Banks Hennen of Sterlington; one son, Dennis W. Hennen and wife Helen of Monroe; one sister, Mary DuVall Latham and husband Jesse of West Monroe; and 3 grandchildren.
