BRISTOL- Violet Ausland, 80 of Bristol died on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol.

Violet Marion Olson was born on Saturday, February 5, 1927 to Hans and Ida (Stave) Olson on the family farm near Langford, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at Langford Evangelical Lutheran Church. She grew up on the family homestead in Homer Township near Langford and attended country school in Homer Township and then graduated from Langford High School in 1946. After high school she worked in a restaurant, worked for many families and helped on the family farm until her marriage.

On July 3, 1949 she married Oren Ausland at Langford Evangelical Lutheran Church in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Alvira and Palmer Quamen. After their marriage Oren and Violet made their home in Scotland Township near Andover where they bought the Tameana Anderson farm and lived there for fourteen years. Then in 1963 the couple bought the homestead of Edwin and Olga Stadsklev farm where they lived until she entered Sun Dial Manor in Bristol in 2003.
Violet was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, directed the youth choir and was a member of Circle and Ladies Aide. Violet and her sister, Alvira sang many duets for weddings and funerals. She loved to entertain and bake. She was very devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Violet passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Bristol, South Dakota at the age of 80 years and 3 days.

Survivors include her husband, Oren of Bristol; one son, Eugene (Kathy) Ausland of Andover, SD; three daughters, Margaret (Ron) Gunderson of Mina Lake, SD, Diane (Wallace) Hamman of Milbank, SD and Janice (Terry) O'Farrell of Watertown, SD; one brother, Kenneth (Mavis) Olson of Langford, SD; one sister, Alvira Quamen of Britton, SD; two brothers-in-law, Don (Yvonne) Ausland of Torrence, CA and Gaius (Sheila) Ausland of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters-in-law, Angeline (Kenny) Amundson of Webster, SD and Carol (Don) Evenson of Sinai, SD; sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jay and two brothers-in-law, Herbert Ausland and Palmer Quamen.

Her funeral will be Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, Rev. Dan Overbo will officiate. Burial will be in the Bristol Cemetery.
