Death Near Paskenta.

Jesse Osburn came to town Saturday evening from Paskenta with the word that Mrs. Joan [sic]* Beach had died near that place Saturday morning. A casket was fitted up at Elmore's and will be taken to Paskenta today and the funeral will take place there Monday. Mrs. Beach was 93 years of age and has been a resident of this county for a great many years. She was feeling very well for one of her advanced years is until Friday about noon when she was attacked with what was thought to be pleurisy. She gradually grew worse until death relieved her Saturday morning. Mrs. Beach was well known in the neighborhood of Paskenta and by the older residents of Red Bluff. She was the mother of Mrs. A. Townsend of this place. Mrs. Townsend is not well enough perhaps to make the trip to Paskenta.

*should read "Mrs. Ann Beach" (her daughter Joan Beach-Osborn died in Aug 1903 in Flournoy, Tehama Co., CA.

CORRECTIVE NOTE: In the past family information indicated that Ann Crawford-Ballard-Beach died in Newville, Glenn County, CA, on 25 September 1892. She was buried with her husband Joseph Beach and other family members in the Newville Cemetery where the family's grave stone gives her name as "ANN C. BEACH" with her dates as "1806 – 1892". With the information in the above obituary that indicates she died on Sat., 25 Sep 1897, it appears that she died 5 years later than previously believed and most likely in Tehama County. - Ann's research courtesy of O.K. Wheeler.

Ann (Crawford) Ballard's daughter Ettiville (Ballard) Townsend is Find A Grave Memorial #25322585.
