Blanche Ardean Meckley, 83, formerly of Hanover, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at the Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of Arlington Kenneth Meckley, who died on July 4, 1984.
She was born May 24, 1923, in Hanover the daughter of the late Jacob and Alma (Hotz) Stonesifer.
Blanche was employed with Sunoco Products in Hanover for 16 years, retiring in 1984. She enjoyed cooking for her family and crocheting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Rohrbaugh and her husband, Barry of Hanover, Darlene Slothour and her husband, Ray of Hanover, Patricia Aldridge of Westminster, Md., Kenneth Dean Meckley and his wife, Kim of Abbottstown, Leonard E. Meckley and his wife, Pam of Spring Grove, Lamarr D. Meckley and his wife, Alicia of Hanover; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 10 step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Kennawell; two brothers; Mervin and James Hotz; a grandson, Kenneth Arlington Meckley; and great-grandson, Joshua Heiser.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York.
