Elmer Hayes Turner, born September 19, 1887 in Wayne County, KY, and passed away January 7, 1955 at the home of his son, Randall near Oxford, OH at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 19 days.
His parents, Travis and Sarah Jane Pratt Turner, his wife Mrs. Kitty Burton Turner, two sons, Rural and Arlin, one brother, John Monroe Turner and one sister, Mrs. Florida Turner Gossage preceded him in death. He is survived by four sons and one daughter, Murl of Greenfield, IN, Marvin of Waynesburg, KY, Randall of Oxford, OH, Travis of New Lisbon, IN, and Mrs. Mamie Turner Roberts of Liberty, IN. Also fourteen grand children, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Oliver of Monticello, KY; Fred of Yates Center, KS, and Leslie of Akron, OH; Mrs. Daudie Gossage, Mrs. Florence Gossage, both of Monticello, KY and Mrs. Dora Burton of Newton, IA.
He had been a member of the United Baptist Church for more than forty years and as all of his relatives and friends knew, he lived accordingly.
His body was brought to the home of his brother, Oliver near Monticello to await the preparation for burial.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Elza Anderson with internment in the Morrow's Chapel cemetery.
Pall bearers were his sons and grandsons, Murl, Marvin, Randall, Travis, Gary Roberts and Hueston Turner.
Flower girls were, Treva Winchester, Verla McKinley, Sarah Elizabeth Turner, Winifred Gossage, Ruth Powell, Jean Boils, Ruth Winchester, Grace McKinley, Eunice Turner, Ethel Mires and Louise Mires.
