Robert Lafayette Cain, 82 of Gladstone, MO (formerly of Richmond, MO) died June 3, 2006, at his home. He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Orrick, the son of John Byron and Hortense (Lillard) Cain.
He was married to Rowena A. Kennedy on Jan. 9, 1943; she preceded him in death.
He was a truck driver with Mid-America Truck Line for 23 years before he retired in 1984.
He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Raytown.
He lived in Richmond before he moved to Gladstone 20 years ago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Kenneth Cain; and one infant daughter, Sandra Lee Cain.
Survivors include his step-mother, Nora Malloy of Richmond, MO; three daughters, Sharon Settle of Richmond, MO; Michele Taylor of Altoona, IA; and Terri Cain of Gladstone, MO; one brother, Leroy Cain of Richmond, MO; one sister, Leva Penny of Stet, MO; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are June 6, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial in Todd's Chapel Cemetery, northwest of Richmond, where military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post #4398 and American Legion Post #237.
