Mrs. Nell Ellzey Deckelman of Harrisburg departed this life Thursday evening in Jonesboro, at the age of 97.
A lifetime resident of Harrisburg, she was born Jan. 2, 1909 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Thaddeus Ellzey and Addie Aston Ellzey. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church near Harrisburg.
She is survived by one son, Joe "Sonny" Deckelman Jr. of Harrisburg; four step-sons, L.D. Deckelman of Harrisburg, Bob Deckelman of Mountainburg, Ron Deckelman of Wynne and Mike Deckelman of Jonesboro; three daughters, Louise Weeks and Dorothy "Dot" Leech, both of Harrisburg, and Lora Jean Hancock of Hardy; four step-daughters, Dernice Burk of North Little Rock, Helen Wyman of Michigan City, In., Diane Perry of Paragould and Kathy Neugebauer of Shawnee, Kan.; two brothers, T. E. Ellzey Jr. of Memphis and Paul Ellzey of Harrisburg; four sisters, Maxine Parker of Harrisburg, Callie Green of Memphis, Wanda Walker of Clinton, Ky., and Brenda Bruner of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, Melvin Weeks, Gary Weeks, Joey Deckelman, Sherry Moser, Rita Hale and Thomas Deckelman; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg. Interment will follow in Farm Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Williams, Billy Joe Williams, J.D. Flanigan, Glen Griffin, Cecil Roberts and Jess Murray Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW.
