Born in South Church, Durham Lumley, Durham, England.

Son of John & Eleanor (Johnson) Adey.

Husband of Mary (Barker) Adey.

Loving father of:

Nicholas
and Hannah Belle "Annie" (Eggebrecht).

Family records indicate that John S. Adey is buried in this cemetery but there is no record of burial in the office. Funeral service was held in Colfax and obituary confirms his burial here.

OLD SEEVERS CITIZEN DIES
John Adey Passed Away Friday
At The Ripe Old Age of 82 Years.

John Adey, one of the old and highly respected citizens of Jasper county, died at his home in Seevers at noon, Friday, in the 82nd year of his age. The funeral was held Sunday at two o'clock, with the services in the Colfax Methodist church, conucted(sp) by the pastor, Rev. G. F. Gannom. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery (now Colfax-Highland).
The deceased was born in Durham, England and came to America 35 years ago. Most of the time since he has resided in Iowa, first in Mahaska county, and for the last 15 years in Jasper county. He leaves to mourn their loss a widow, two sons and three daughters as follows: John, of Bear Creek, IA; Nicholas, Seevers, Iowa; Mrs Ellen Johnson, Nanamo, British Columbia; Mrs Hanna Belle Eggebrecht, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Kathryn Gunn, Colfax, Iowa. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Johnson.


*Note: We have searched records and hunted the cemetery for the graves of John S. & Mary Barker Adey. Obituaries all indicate they are buried here in a family plot.

Son Nicholas is buried here with a large area of empty graves next to him but no markers. Also other family members close to this but still no markers.
