Evelyn Best (Bridenbaugh), age 82, of Toledo, died Monday, December 4, 2006, at St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center. She was born February 26, 1924, in Toledo Mr. and Mrs. William Sr and Emma Ritcher (Goldberg) Eyre. She was employed at The Lucas County Home for the Aged, Medical College Hospital for 30 years, The Toledo Hospital and at Northtowne Mall. She was a member of the former St. Agnes Parish in Toledo and enjoyed garage sales, playing cards, especially with her Card Club, dancing, shopping, cooking and traveling, especially to the Pacific coast and Florida. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was loved by all. Survived by her husband, the love of her life, John Bridenbaugh; son, Edward W. (Florence) Best of Toledo; daughters, Norma (Dennis) Tobianski of Lambertville, Debbie M. Kreft of Toledo and Louise (Rev. Karl) Ostberg of New York; grandchildren, Dennis (Beckie) Tobianski, Jr, Beth (Tim) Morrow, Brian Tobianski, Benjamen, Josephine and Paul Best, Nancy (Rob) Schnipke and Kris, Laurel and Karen Ostberg; great-grand-children, Jerry Korakas, Karl Tobianski, Ashley Morrow, Skip Kreft and Kendall Schnipke; stepsons, James (Deb) Bridenbaugh of Texas and John H. Bridenbaugh Jr., of Missouri; stepdaughters, Carolyn (Malak) Daboul of Oregon and Judy (Borac) Esmailzedeah of Columbus, OH; brothers, Alvin (Carolyn) Eyre of Toledo, John Eyre of Maumee; sister, Betty Startzman of Toledo and many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Ed Best; grandson, Bobby Kreft; brothers, William Eyre Jr and Samuel; "Sam" Eyre and sisters, Winifred, Thelma Dillon and Katherine Hoot. Friends will be received at Blanchard - Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Friday from 2-8 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Clement Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Entombment, Resurrection Cemetery. She especially enjoyed the Christmas Season and the family requests any floral tributes to celebrate the season.
