Glendon was born the son of the late Wendell and Nina (Doble) Allen. Glendon passed on at Stephens Memorial Hospital with his wife and family by his side.

Glendon was educated in Buckfield schools graduating from Buckfield High School in 1948.

He had worked for Tilton's Market for two years before serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954, and had been stationed on Okinawa from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean Conflict. He married Lucille Robbins on Aug. 20, 1955.

He had worked at C.W. Wilkinson & Son for a short-time before going to work for the state of Maine Department of Agriculture as a poultry and meat inspector for 28 years. Upon retirement from state employment, he worked for SAD 39 for 13 years.

He was a member of the Nezinscot Lodge 104, a 51-year member and past master of Evening Star Lodge 147, past commander of John D. Long American Legion Post 58, member and past worthy patron of Mt. View Chapter O.E.S, a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Kora Temple Shrine of Lewiston and a 42-year member of the Buckfield Volunteer Fire Department.

When his sons were growing up he was a Cub Scout master. He enjoyed hunting and fishing until his health failed. He looked forward each year to wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lucille of Buckfield; two sons, Edward Allen of Buckfield and Michael Allen, and his wife, Reatha, of Gulfport, Miss.; grandchildren, James Allen, and his wife, Michelle, of Dover, Del., Dawn Allen, and fiancée, Zachary Campbell, of Bethlehem, Pa., Christopher Allen of Dover, Mass., Ryan Allen of Buckfield, Brian Allen of Akron, Ohio, and Pamela Allen of Mogadore, Ohio; two special adopted grandchildren, Maggie and Travis Robbins, of Richmond; a great-grandson, Noah James Allen of Dover, Del.; three sisters, Cynthia Lamb, and her husband, Sayward, of Bryant Pond, Joyce Lamb of West Paris and Ethelyn Turner of South Paris; cousins, Sylvia Arno, and her husband, Roland, of Turner and Marilyn Greenacre, and her husband, James, of Buxton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Newton Lamb and Richard Turner.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Nolan and the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for dedication and efforts during his illness.
