He had been a high school state wrestling champion in South Dakota. Stationed in France with the Air Force during Vietnam Conflict, he represented the Air Force in wrestling at the 1964 summer Olympics. Later he was General Superintendent for a construction company based in Atlanta, GA.
His father and a brother, James Dare, died before him. His mother and step-father, Jean and Charles Corey of Olathe, TX; daughters Christine and Summer Dare; son Philip Dare; sister-in-law Karen Dare; two nephews and a niece survive.
