Margaret Jane Pollock was born at Elizabeth, PA, dau of Thomas and Jane Allen Pollock. She came with her parents to Jeff. Co. in 1856. The family settled on a farm about a mile west of Libertyville. In Apr 1868 she married Daniel W Carter. Mother of two children Rena E who passed away in 1903 and a son, Prof. Charles Carter with whom she made her home after the death of her husband in 1904. She was survived by a brother John T Pollock, Libertyville, nephews and nieces in Spokane, WA, Ventura, CA and a granddaughter Joan. Services were at the Presbyterian Church.
