John E. Boland Jr., 82, of Connellsville, formerly of Arnold, died Monday (Feb. 17, 2003) in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.
Born Aug. 12, 1920, in Arnold, he lived in Connellsville since 1960.

He was a 1937 graduate of Arnold High School.

He served in World War II with the Army in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Boland was a T&D supervisor at West Penn Power before retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Elks and a former member of the American Legion, Eagles and Sons of Italy, all in Connellsville.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Loretta A. (Thomas) Bokros of Erie, Joanne E. McCulloch of Levittown, Mrs. Carol A. (James) Kregiel of Wilkins, Mrs. Dolores A. (Thurl) Quigley of Edina, Minn., and Mrs. Karen A. (James) Carlton of Connellsville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna O. Sober Boland in 2001; his parents, John E. and Margaret A. Morrison Boland Sr.; a brother, Kenneth Boland; and two sisters, Doreen and Mildred Boland.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, Connellsville, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Lance Lecocq, pastor of Monroeville Assembly of God Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Military honors will be accorded by the Connellsville VFW and American Legion and the Trotter American Legion Honor Guard. The Connellsville Elks will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
