Services for H.B. Barnett, 90, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Mar. 17, 2000, at Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bud Kidwell officiating.

Military graveside services will be held at Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

He died Wednesday March 15, 2000, in Crosbyton Care Center.

He was born Oct. 19, 1909 in Crofton, TX.

He married Lillian Maevis Tillson on July 15, 1928, in Dickens. She died Aug. 10, 1999.

He moved to Crosby County in 1920. He was in the grocery business in the Wake community for 26 years, then entered into law enforcement. He retired from the City of Lubbock Police Force after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He served on the U.S.S. Maryland in the Pacific theater.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Thornhill of Crosbyton, and Gloria Lee of Eager, Ariz.; three sisters, Elsie Steen of Lake Forest, Calif., Lottie Leatherwood of Crosbyton, Lucille Blankenship of McAllen; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
