Cresencio Lucero, 83, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Santa Fe.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., on Feb. 13, 1923, to the late Emanuel C. Lucero and Eulalia Leyba Lucero.

He was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1949, to Candelaria Solano in Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fifth Grade Company C 1875th Engineer Aviation Battalion in Central Burma.

He retired in 1984 from Highlands University where he was employed in the boiler plant and was also a self-employed plumber.

A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel C. and Eulalia Lucero; son, Tommy Lucero; grandson, Richard Diaz; sisters, Victoria Ortiz and Louisa Tenorio; brothers, Willie Lucero, Salvador Lucero, Joe Bonnie Lucero and wife Josie and Ben Lucero and wife Margaret; mother and father-in-law, Simplicia and Benito Solano.

He is survived by his wife: Candelaria Lucero of the family home in Las Vegas; sons and daughters, Ralph Lucero and wife Consuelo of Las Vegas, Elizabeth Isbell and husband Roger of Sapello and Ricky Lucero and wife Marie of Albuquerque; special grandson: (his buddy) Jarrad Isbell and fiance Stephanie Marquez; grandchildren: Christina Silva and husband Paul, Laura Isbell, Brian Lucero and wife Celeste, Richard Lucero, Chase Lucero, Karen Blea, Gena Blea and Krystal Herrera; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters: Lala Baca and husband Julian of La Loma, N.M., and Maria Georgia Lucero of Pueblo, Colorado; special niece: Frances Ulibarri and husband Paul of Socorro, N.M.; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Felimon Baca, Brian Lucero, Louie Delgado, Paul Silva, Dave Solano and Mike Lucero. Serving as honorary bearers will be Ulisses Villalobos, Ramon Lucero and Gilbert Delgado.

He will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel today until 5 p.m., where family and friends may call.

Family wishes to invite everyone to join them this evening after the rosary services at American Legion on Collins Drive. They also wish to invite everyone to join them on Tuesday after the rosary services and Wednesday after funeral services at the VFW on Mills Avenue.
