Donald Dean Barker, 77, of Liberty, passed away Friday January 30, 2005 at North Kansas City Hospital.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 2, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel, Gladstone. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at White Chapel. Interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas City Baptist Temple Belarus Missions Fund.
Mr. Barker was born April 7, 1928 in Odessa, Missouri, the son of Russell L. and Catherine Iles Barker. On November 15, 1957 in Liberty, he was married to Donna Atwood who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dennis Barker and wife, Carol of Kansas City and David Barker and wife, Lynn of Lee's Summit; one brother, B.A. Barker and wife, Bonnie of Raytown; four grandchildren, Aaron Barker, Sarah Barker, JoAnna Barker and Dillon Barker and nieces and nephews, Bonnie Kay White, Steven Doyal, Susan Rice and Michael Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald was a Veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Gas Service Company, now MGE, as Fleet Supervisor, having worked for them for 37 years. He was a Deacon of the Kansas City Baptist Temple and was devoted to his family and his church.
