Effie Lee Flagg-Smith, 72, of Palatka, died early this morning at the home of her son, the Rev. Karl Flagg, following a brief illness.
A Lake City native, she had lived in Palatka since 1958, coming from Jacksonville. She was a member of the To God Be The Holiness Church where she served as church mother, secretary-treasurer and member of the Senior Choir. She was a retired homemaker and also a part-time receptionist at D. A. Boyd & Sons Funeral Home.
She is survived by sons, Willie Myers of Gainesville, SFC John H. Flagg Jr., U.S. Army Station Commander of Jacksonville, the Rev. Commissioner Karl N. Flagg of Palatka, Willard Eugene Smith of San Mateo; daughter, Roselyn Flagg-Rowe of Keystone Heights; sisters, Mrs. Mary Singleton of Gainesville, Mrs. Aldosia Bailey and Mrs. Queen Howard, both of Jacksonville; brother, Alphonso Gore of Warren, Ohio; 40 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
