The husband of Joan Ansink (nee Haslett), he was born in Bridgeton on January 25, 1926 and was the son of the late Leslie Ansink and the late Myrtle Ansink (nee Denges).
Mr. Ansink served his country during both World War II and the Korean War. He worked as a photographer on the staff of General Douglas MacArthur.
Throughout his life he was active in politics and had worked as the personal assistant for Senator Robert Coulson.
Mr. Ansink worked as the Industrial Relations Director for North Chicago Refiners and Smelters, (R. Lavin & Sons) until his retirement in 1993.
After retirement, he and Joan traveled extensively in both Europe and South America. He also was an avid collector of first day covers and had been a member and past officer of the American First Day Cover Society. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching football, baseball and basketball. Mr. Ansink also looked forward to watching the Minnesota Twins Spring training in Florida each year.
There was nothing more important in Mr. Ansink's life than the relationships he shared with his loved ones. He will sadly be missed by a host of family, friends and colleagues.
In addition to his wife of twenty-nine years, he is survived by one daughter, Debra Flores of Gurnee, IL, two granddaughters, Jennifer Bauer and Rebecca Flores, one great grandson, Samuel Bauer, two step-daughters, six step-sons and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leslie Ansink Jr.
A graveside service will take place Friday morning October 20th at 11 o'clock at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township with Rev. Kevin Davis of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Ansink's memory to The American First Day Cover Society, PO Box 16277, Tucson, AZ 85732.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
