Dwayne Russell Gibson, 40 of Elam Heights, entered into rest Friday, October 13, 2006 at his home surrounded by his closest family members. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 15 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Revs. Dan Rosser and T.G. Hall officiating. Russell will be laid to rest at Bethany United Methodist Cemetery. Born in Richmond County, Russell grew up in Lincolnton and graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1984 where he was an accomplished athlete lettering in multiple sports. Later, Russell gained a degree in Printing & Graphics from Augusta Technical College in 1995. A tireless entrepreneur and businessman, Russell founded multiple businesses , most notably Classic Printing which he operated for eleven years. A devoted Red Devil fan, Russell supported the team each season and attended almost every game for over two decades. An inspiration to all he came in contact with, his presence will be missed but his spirit will endure and inspire all who knew him. Survivors: parents, Wayne and Ophelia Wright Gibson, Lincolnton; brother, Jody Gibson, Lincolnton; sisters, Carole Shirley, Lincolnton and Rhonda Mize, Cleveland, Ga; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Shirley, Neely and Carlin Gibson, Shea and Savannah Mize, Brandon Shirley, Cash Gibson, and Cody Poteete. Pallbearers: John Ludwig, Jr., Hamilton Dawkins, Larry Campbell, Mike McCombs, Tony Rowland, Kevin Partridge, Michael Cunningham, Billy Wilkes Visitation 6pm-8pm Saturday at Beggs Funeral Home at 200 May Avenue, Lincolnton, Georgia (706) 359-4117.
