Hillsboro, Texas, Dec. 31. -- James H. Hill, aged 77, died at the residence of
his daughter, Mrs. Walter Moore, at about midnight last night, after an illness
of about two weeks. Funeral will be held from Mrs. Moore's residence at 2
o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Hill was born in Missouri, coming to Texas when
a boy of 10 years. He has made Hillsboro his home for the last twenty-three
years. He served throughout the war between the States in Waul's legion of the
Confederate Army. He was a prominent figure in Hillsboro life and was well known
throughout the State. He is survived by his wife and the following children:
Mrs. Walter Moore and Miss Minnie Hill of this city and J.H. Hill of Rockdale.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: M.R. Hill, Judge D. G. Hill of
Abilene, Mrs. C.H. Howell of San Angelo, Mrs. Knox Thompson of Fort Worth, Mrs.
Mollie Brown of La Grange, Mrs. C.F. Allen of Houston and Mrs. W.F. Ramsey of
