"Died, Jan.13, 1922, at the home of her son, R. E. TAYLOR near Gray, Oklahoma, Mrs. Marie E. TAYLOR, aged 76 years 3 months and 10 days. The deceased was born in Illinois and came to this country several years ago. She leaves a husband and several children to mourn her departure. Burial at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery on January, 14th."

Her husband followed her 13 days later. Possibly both suffering from Pneumonia, though it was suggested on his part that a broken heart contributed. Maria's parents were born in England and married there before immigrating to America through the port of New Orleans. Maria had seven sisters and two brothers. Will would often call her "Riar". The couple are buried next to two great grandchildren: Charles Edward Forbes and his sister, Lavon Forbes Grice.
