Griffin Andrews, age 87, of Quitman died Wednesday morning August 5, 1987 in the Jackson Parish Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Andrews was a native of Lincoln Parish but had lived in the Pumpkin Center area for 60 years. He was a retired security guard at the paper mill and was a member of the Highway Chapel Church of God.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday August 7th in the Buck Edmonds memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Long conducting the services. Burial was in the Antioch cemetery near Quitman.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Bell Garlington Andrews of Quitman; two sons, Louis James Andrews of Bowling Green, Missouri and David m. Andrews of Ruston; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Colvin of Vienna; two brothers, S. J. Andrews of Maplewood and Weaver Andrews of Dubach, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren survive.
Pallbearers were Roger Andrews, Lloyd Collins, David Andrews, and Tim Norman.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Merrigan, Emmett Vail, Johnny Pyles and the men of Highway Chapel Church of God.
