Swedish patriarch and cabinet maker. He was a farmer and a master of fine carpentry. He was one of the grandchildren of Carl Mattsson who participated in the sale and destruction of the old Kalles farm in the village of Tjärna in Borlänge, Stora Tuna parish, in the late 1960's. He was a very appreciated family elder and teller of family stories. He also made and gave away many fine wooden gifts, such as stools and bowls, in his carpentry shop in the villa he and his wife lived in on the former family lands. This, and several other homes for the relatives, were parts of the deal in giving up the old farm to the city, which built schools and a subdivision of homes there. Axel took over the prominently positioned family grave of his grandfather Mattsson's at Stora Tuna. He also carefully kept the old family Bible of his great-great-grandfather's, Anders Hansson of Gimsbärke, and presented it to the family archives in 1988. It is a massive book from 1814 with a thick leather cover and the alphabet handwritten inside for reference in reading.
