The family lived on a farm southeast of Carthage, Illinois, later moving to a home they built in Carthage. In 1961 they purchased a farm near Macomb, Illinois. They were the parents of a son, Curtis Wayne Boston. Ethel's husband Charles died when their son was only 6 months old.
