Edith M. Beasley, 85, of Sylva, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Harris Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, at East Sylva Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Revs. Charles Dean, Harry Vance and Gerald Morris officiated. Burial was at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were deacons of East Sylva Baptist Church.

A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Nancy M. Bumgarner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Beasley; three brothers, Charlie, Will and Roy Bumgarner; four sisters, Elizabeth Henson, Nell Riddleburger, Jennie Dillard and Emma Bumgarner; and one grandson.

Surviving are two sons, Jim Beasley and Tom Beasley, both of Sylva; three daughters, Peggy B. Stiles and Annie Dee Jones, both of Sylva, and Nell B. Keener of Cullowhee; one sister, Eloise Taylor of Sylva; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
