Lisa Melinda Sornson Tanner, 39, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly of Patterson, passed away suddenly Sunday (Sept. 10, 2006).

She was born Sept. 24, 1966 in Ware County, the daughter of Jimmy R. Sornson Sr. and Linda Thornton Sornson, of Patterson.

She was a dedicated woman, both in her family life and her career. Before moving to Orange Park, she taught seventh and eighth graders at Pierce County High School and was a registered nurse in the Birthing Center at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross. She was employed as a labor and delivery nurse at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville at the time of her death. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Scott Tanner; her daughter Virginia Rae Tanner, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Jimmy R. Sornson Jr. (wife Annemarie); her mother-in-law, Jackie Tanner; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Scott Miller; her aunt and uncle, Marilyn and Norman Snyder; all of Jacksonville, Fla., aunt and uncle Patricia and Gary Page, of Patterson; her aunts, Libby Strickland, of Jacksonville, Fla., Merle Jean Taylor, of Waycross, and Debbie Griggs, of Waycross; uncle Randy Sornson, of Fair Bluff, N.C., and a great-uncle, Earl Zimmerman, of Elk Horn, Wis.; also her uncle and aunt, Willis "Bud" and Bonnie Thornton, of Patterson; many other loving family members, friends and associates.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Fla., with Dr. Hal Fletcher, pastor of Ridgewood Baptist Church officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Offerman Cemetery in Offerman. Family members and friends will gather Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home in Jacksonville, Fla.
