Mrs. Elvira Stroud died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J . P. Jackson, in her 80th year at 8 o'clock p. m. , Dec. 15th, 1897, in Glenwood. The funeral occurred at the Methodist church Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, W. F. Bartholomew.
The deceased was born in Birmingham, in the State of New York, in 1818. Her maiden name was Barnes. She removed to Wisconson in 1852, and to Mills county in 1860. Her husband, Oliver Stroud, was killed in battle during the civil war. Mrs. Stroud has been a Christian, a member of the Methodist church, for more than seventy years. Her faculties were remarkably preserved, and for one of her age she was exceptionally intelligent and in touch with all that was going on about her.
