KEWANEE - Joan "Joanie" Marie Hamilton, 51, of Kewanee, died at 4:30 PM, Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded and graveside services and inurnment will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 8 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. Rev. Steven Bird will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, September 7 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
Mrs. Hamilton was born January 18, 1955 in Kewanee, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Anderson) Roginski. She married David E. Hamilton on December 26, 1975 in Kirkwood, FL. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1992. Survivors include three sons, Chad (Johnnie) Hamilton, Eric Hamilton and Oliver Hamilton, all of Kewanee, one daughter, Megan (Andrew) Paetzold of Newark, IL, seven grandchildren, Paige, Morgan, Leah, Logan, Haley, Abigail, Aspen and two on the way, two brothers, John (Donna) Roginski of Naperville, IL and Jim (Peggy) Roginski of Kewanee, two sisters, Jackie (John) Euchaski of LaFayette, LA and Jill (Robert) Tellier of Kewanee, her special friend, Brendan Schlitz, with whom she made her home and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Kewanee High School in 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Kewanee. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, bowling, doing crafts and swimming. In her early years she had participated in and taught swimming lessons at the YMCA. She enjoyed her grandchildren.
