Nancy Bates married Steven/Stephen Bowers. Nancy was buried in the Bowers Family Graveyard, 2 miles East of Prosperity in Newberry County, S.C. Stephen may only have a foot rock marked S. B. (See Newberry County Cemetery Records). Both Nancy & Stephen were of German descent. Stephen was the son of Alexander Andrew Bauer/Bauers/Bowers & Anna Barbara Hermann. Nancy was the daughter of George Michail/Michael Bez known unusually as John Michael Bates & Catherine Kelly. (For years it has been accepted that her mother was Catherine Dreher but that is in question now with records pointing to her being Catherine Kelly) instead. All of them were of German descent and (All of THEM ARE MY ANCESTORS); I have documented this line. Andrew Bowers & Michael Bates both were Patriots of the American Revolution. Michael Bates was one of the largest German land owners in Newberry County, S.C.
