Mrs. Yevetta Briggs, 89, of Apple Valley passed away Aug. 3, 2006. YeVetta moved to St. Louis, Mo., as a child where she graduated from Roosevelt High School, worked as a clerk during WWII and married Captain Norman E. Briggs of St. Louis on Aug. 1, 1945. She moved with her husband to Pico Rivera where she raised two children and was very active in her church. She also helped to start the library at Alice Birney Elementary School. In 1977, YeVetta retired to Oakhurst, where she was active in several square dancing and round dancing clubs in the area. In 1998 she moved to Apple Valley where she was a member of the Friends of the Apple Valley Library where she volunteered. YeVetta is survived by her husband, Norman; two children, Betty and Donald; grandson, Donald; brother, Robert; and cousin, LaVeeda. YeVetta had a sweet, loving, gentle heart and will be missed by those who knew her. Her body wiil be cremated and her ashes interred at Rose Hills.
