She was the daughter of Archibald Porter (4/7/1799) and Annie Lundsford Traweek (10/28/1821-6/17/1879) who came to Attala after they married in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1839.

Sue married William Van Davis (7/5/1828-3/30/1884), William is the subject of the book "Oh, For Dixie --The Civil War Record and Diary or Capt. W V Davis 30th MS Infantry, CSA" by Joe and Lavon Ashley.

From henceforth that they my rest from
their labors and their works do follow
