Dear Brother & Sister & Children,
I will try and answer your welcome letters we received some time ago. We should have wrote sooner but we put it off from time to time till it is a good while. I was reading and I just thought of yours and I went right to writing. Alph went to pick some wild strawberries he said he knew where he could get a whole lot. Zua & Ora went to Sunday School and church with there grandpas. One of our horses is crippled and the other two have all the work to do and Alph didn't like to drive them to day again. We tended Sabbath School pretty regular, we only missed a few times. We have very good Sabbath School, at the one place. We have about 75 schools, the children like to go awful well. Well we had two good love feasts this spring at Center Church and at the Brick Church. Abe Heeatands and Sam Heastand & Rob Shively and Sevy Heastands and some more were up at the Center love feast. Well we have very good growing weather now we had plenty of rain. The last to weeks or so, it is very cool at night and in day time it gets very warm. Well Ellie I have lots of work to do. My garden things look very nice I will have beans to eat the last of this week and pretty soon cucumbers. We have 4 cows to with and we will have another one next months. Butter is 8 to 11 cents, we get 11 cents right along, eggs is 13 cent. We are raising 4 calves. Raspberries are getting ripe, I baked some pie. There will be lots of peaches and pears. Apples are just midling and plums are scarce with as some will have a good many. Well last Wednesday we was to Canton. Alph went to pay his tax and I went along. We went to Dr. Foulters for dinner they were more than glad to see us. They sold their house and lot at Georgetown and moved to Canton. They like it very well.
Alphs folks well as far as I know. Mother Kelley was up a week this spring. Ephraim was here 2 weeks ago. They were well. Jims live in Minerva yet. Evert Summers's are building a barn this summer. Well we had a good share of the measles this spring our children all had them. They were pretty sick the oldest ones took them first. They got them at school then the little ones took them from them. Nearly all the children around and old ones to had with them. They closed the school now we wont have no school till after harvest. My folks is all well they have borders. They are building a new school house and they are bording some of the hands. We are getting a nice school house it is made out of bricks. They are putting a heater in it. Well we are first as strong in our faith as we ever was. Here is a progressive church in Louisville, but they don't bother us very much. There were a few sisters that wore hats last summer, but this summer their ______ one that does. Elder Calor said they have to be put away, and they are plain other ways, all but a few. There are so many bitter members in the Center Church and they are so nice and plain. More of them wear hats up at the Brick Church they are just like they always were all but a few that joined last winter. How I wish we would he more like we ought to be how nice it would be. At the Reading Church you can't tell who are members any more or not. Just take out some of the old ones and the rest you don't know. It don't seem like the same church. I don't know whose fault it is, but I think they hant strict enough any more, it is a pity.
