MONTICELLO — Leon Barnett, 86, of Monticello, died Wednesday at Drew Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 15, 1919, in Drew County, a son of the late Robert Lee Barnett and Ollie Bell Funderburg Barnett.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was a retired carpenter.
He was a member of East Side Missionary Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lou Youngblood; three brothers, Howard Barnett, Fred Barnett and Marvin Barnett; and three sisters, Lula Gates, Lois Kemp and Aubrey Creed.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Pauline Fox Barnett married Jan. 24, 1946; one son, Donald Barnett of Indiana; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home at Monticello with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lone Sassafras Cemetery in Drew County.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
