(12 Apr 1928, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Mrs. Dora Bell was born Sept. 25, 1872, at Brentwood, Arkansas, and died April 4th, 1928, age 55 yrs. 6 mo. and 9 days. The funeral was conducted at the Methodist church in Erick April 6th, 1928 and the interment was at the Erick cemetery.
Mrs. Bell was married to James Thomas Bell December 25th, 1888 at Brentwood, Arkansas. To this union was born 12 children, 4 boys and 8 girls, four of whom have preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her death a husband and 8 children; the children are James Omer Bell of Erick, Mrs. Mammie Hughes of Wichita, Kansas; Howard Bell of Carter, Okla.; Tom Bell of Erick; Mrs. Annalee Thomas of Amarillo, Texas; and Misses Cecilia Rosalia and Laura Bell of Erick. She also leaves one brother Mr. May of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Bell was a loving and affectionate wife and mother. She spent her life in sacrificial service for others. The needs and wants of others were her constant thought and care. It can be truly said of Sister Bell as Jesus said of Mary, "She hath wrought a good work - she hath done what she could." Mk:14:6&8.
Mrs. Bell professed religion and joined the Methodist Church early in life at Brentwood, Arkansas, and since coming to Erick has been a member of the Methodist church here and has lived a true faithful life since her conversion.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bell and family of Carter and Mrs. Mammie Hughes and small son of Wichita, Kansas, came up for the funeral of their mother Mrs. J. T. Bell and will remain here until Tom and Cecilia have recovered from a bad case of measles.
