[Add A Photo]
This 1840's portrait is mentioned in the 1846 settlement of Joseph DeWolf's estate which as part of an allowance to the widow, "A Picture of the widow." Also, family members had a photo of the portrait in which Sarah was named as the sitter. Though the clothing shown may not have been her true clothes [partially-painted canvases were common to itinerant painters of the time], it could be assumed that it is a good likeness of Sarah. Over the years, the portrait survived and was handed down through family members and is presently in the possession of one of Sarah's direct descendants. It is used here by permission requested and received from them in July, 2013.
