Van Roy Arnold, 81 year old retired farmer of Golden City, died at the Dade county nursing home at 6:10 p.m., Sunday He had been a patient in the Barton County Memorial hospital from July 20 to September 29, when he was released and admitted to the nursing home.

The 81 year old man was born in Barton County November 26, 1888 and had lived in the Golden City area all his life. He was the son of George Washington Arnold and Mary Jane Smith.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary Emma Lyons, of the home at Golden City, one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Kinser of Golden City, one sister, Mrs. Atta Davis, Monte Vista, Colorado, one grandchild and two great grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Pugh funeral home at Golden City to be prepared for burial. The last rites were announced for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Pugh chapel. Interment follows in the 100F cemetery at Golden City.
